A Word from the Artistic Director
After a very successful and exciting first edition, I am so happy to welcome you at the second International Chamber Music Festival Ede!
The theme of this year’s festival is Forces of Nature. Powerful and wild, gorgeous and unpredictable, romantic and glorious, and sometimes distractive and cruel. For millennia the forces have inspired poets, artists and architects in creating their masterpieces and composers to create endless magnificent pieces of music. And, in a way, isn’t music one of the most powerful forces of nature as well?
This year we are going to welcome more than twenty remarkable world famous musicians from all around the world. There will be many unexpected surprises and special experiences at the festival, such as a candlelit concert, professional dancers joining performance at Theater Junushoff and at the end - a Viennese ball celebration.
This year’s festival will focus a lot on the art of dance, as dance is one of the oldest and most natural forms of human expression. Make sure you don't miss the concerts at Theater Junushoff and Kröller-Müller Museum, where music meets dance and visual arts.
We are continuing our commitment to education by organizing masterclasses with world class artists at Akoesticum and a family concert at Theater Cultura. The 2018 festival will feature the talented young Dutch pianist and winner of last year's Young Talent audition, Nikola Meeuwsen.
Most of the concerts are going to be held in Edesche Concertzaal, one of the most special chamber venues in The Netherlands with perfect acoustics, a fantastic behind-the-scenes team and a wonderful atmosphere.
